OZONE POLLUTION

WORST:

1. Los Angeles-Long Beach-Riverside, Calif.

2. Bakersfield, Calif.

3. Visalia-Porterville, Calif.

BEST:

1. Bismarck, N.D.

2. Brownsville-Harlingen-Raymondville, Texas

3. Coeur d'Alene, Idaho

SHORT-TERM PARTICLE POLLUTION

WORST:

1. Bakersfield, Calif.

2. Fresno-Madera, Calif.

3. Pittsburgh-New Castle, Pa.

BEST:

1. Alexandria, La.

2. Amarillo, Texas

3. Athens-Clarke, Ga.

LONG-TERM PARTICLE POLLUTION

WORST:

1. Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale, Ariz.

2. Bakersfield, Calif.

3. Los Angeles-Long Beach-Riverside, Calif.

BEST:

1. Cheyenne, Wyo.

2. Santa Fe-Espanola, N.M.

3. Honolulu

OZONE POLLUTION/SHORT-TERM PARTICLE POLLUTION

Fargo, N.D., Wahpeton, N.D., and Lincoln, Neb., were rated as the cleanest.
