Mo. woman who faked birth of sextuplets absconds

The Associated Press

A suburban Kansas City woman who faked the birth of sextuplets to get financial support from her community is missing after walking away from a community release center.

Authorities say 47-year-old Sarah Everson, of Grain Valley, left the Kansas City Community Release Center to go on a job search Friday and never returned. They say she was seven months into a four-year sentence for felony stealing by deceit.

Everson was paroled to the center, where she was staying while preparing to go back into the community. A warrant has been issued for her arrest.

Everson and her husband, Kris, made up the story about having sextuplets to tap the generosity of neighbors in March 2006. Kris Everson has been sentenced to three years in prison.
