Authorities say a drainage trench being constructed along a northeastern Nebraska highway has collapsed, killing four workers.
The Knox County attorney's office issued a statement Friday saying the four men were working on state Highway 12 near the town of Verdel when the trench collapsed.
A woman who answered the phone at the Knox County sheriff's office says the collapse occurred at about 9 a.m.
County officials say those killed were between the ages of 24 and 61.
Autopsies have been requested.
Verdel is 155 miles northwest of Omaha.
