2 indicted in Tenn. for allegedly bribing voters

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has arrested two people for allegedly bribing voters during an election in a local mayoral race.

The agency said 54-year-old Chuck Hunt of Tellico Plains and 47-year-old Norman Nichols of Madisonville were arrested Thursday after being indicted by a Monroe County grand jury. Both were booked in jail on $1,000 bond.

Hunt faces eight counts of bribery of a voter and eight counts of conspiracy to bribe a voter. Nichols faces six counts of bribery of a voter and six counts of conspiracy to bribe a voter.

They are accused of trying to buy votes during the 2011 mayoral election in Tellico Plains.
