Moffett picks up endorsement from Pelosi foe

The Associated Press

GOP gubernatorial candidate Phil Moffett has picked up an endorsement from John Dennis, the California Republican who ran unsuccessfully against U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi last year.

Dennis announced his support for Moffett on Thursday, saying Kentucky needs a governor who will "stop the madness, the compulsive, obsessive plundering." He said Moffett believes in limited government, free markets and individual liberty.

Dennis also called on his supporters to make financial contributions to Moffett, who has raised only about $120,000 for his primary campaign against state Senate President David Williams and Jefferson County Clerk Bobbie Holsclaw. Williams is by far the best funded Republican candidate, having raised $1.2 million for his primary race.

The Republican winner will take on Democratic Gov. Steve Beshear and independent candidate Gatewood Galbraith in the general election.
