Ind. Gov. Daniels hitting TV shows during DC trip

The Associated Press

Gov. Mitch Daniels is leaving the political turmoil in the Indiana House behind for a weekend trip to Washington for the National Governors Association's winter meeting.

The governor's office said Daniels was leaving Friday for Washington, where he was scheduled to make two national television appearances as he weighs deciding whether to enter the 2012 Republican presidential race. Daniels was to be interviewed during "PBS NewsHour" on Friday and then appear Sunday morning on "Fox News Sunday."

Daniels expected to remain in Washington until Monday, when the governors are scheduled to meet with President Barack Obama and congressional leaders.

Indiana House Democrats shut down legislative action by leaving Tuesday for Illinois. Majority Republicans plan on trying to reconvene the House on Monday.
