THE NUMBERS: Obama 46, McCain 45.

OF INTEREST: The state that helped decide the 2004 election in President Bush's favor remains a dead heat.

OF INTEREST: Nearly 85 percent of Michigan voters believe their state is on the wrong track, the highest discontent recorded in the survey.

THE NUMBERS: McCain 47, Obama 43.

OF INTEREST: President Bush enjoys his highest popularity in Indiana of the eight states, with 40 percent of voters saying they have a very or somewhat favorable opinion of him.

THE POLL: Big Ten Battleground Poll, of 600 randomly selected registered voters in Wisconsin (10 electoral votes).

THE NUMBERS: Obama 45, McCain 44.

OF INTEREST: The poll is the latest in recent days to show a dead heat in Wisconsin, home of two of the closest general election outcomes in 2000 and 2004. Polls showed Obama leading by more than 10 points in June.
