A look at the closest races for state legislature

The Associated Press

A few of the most closely watched contests for state legislatures Tuesday:

_New York: Democrats need two seats to win a Senate majority — and total control of the Legislature and governor's office. That hasn't happened since 1935.

_Pennsylvania: Republicans are one seat away from taking back control of the House, which they lost in 2006. They already control the Senate.

_Montana: Both House and Senate are being contested, with Republicans one seat ahead in the House and Democrats two seats ahead in the Senate.

_Indiana: Democrats hold the House by a two-seat margin. Republicans already control the Senate.

_Nevada: Republicans hold the Senate by a one-seat margin. Democrats have solid control of the Assembly.

_Ohio: Democrats hope to win control of the House, counting on the departure of term-limited Republicans to help overcome a seven-seat deficit.
