Up for reelection this year, New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine has already spent more than $100 million of his own money in two successfuls runs for elective office in the Garden State. As a former Chairman and co-CEO of Goldman Sachs, Corzine was estimate to have earned $400 million in 1999 after the company's IPO.

In 2000, Corzine's wealth made him an immediately player in the Democratic primary in New Jersey's notoriously expensive media market. Ultimately, Corzine spent $33 million in the primary, soundly beating the more well established Jim Florio by sixteen points.  Corzine spent another $30 million in the general election to eke out a three point win over Republican Bob Franks in what was the most expensive Senate run in the country's history.

In 2005, Corzine bankrolled his gubernatorial bid with another $43 million, handily defeating Republican businessman Doug Forrester who ponied up $19 million of his own money in the losing effort. Expect Corzine, who is seeking reelection but trailing badly in the polls to Republican challenger Chris Christie, to spend another small fortune to win again this November.
