President Obama began his train ride at 11:30 a.m. aboard the Georgia 300 to Washington D.C. after holding a town hall meeting in Philadelphia on January 17. The train ride was a tribute to Abraham Lincoln who in 1861 traveled to Washington from Springfield, Illinois, stopping in Philadelphia and a total of 70 other locations. Obama’s train stopped in Wilmington, Delaware to pick up Vice-President Joe Biden and then to Baltimore, Maryland where a crowd of 40,000 cheered their arrival. At 7 p.m. the train arrived at its destination of Washington, D.C.
