Rep. Barbara Cubin, a member of the Republican class of 1994, decided not to seek re-election to an 8th term. Cubin's re-election in 2006 was one of the closest races in the country -- Democrat Gary Trauner, a Jackson Hole school board member, lost by only 1,012 votes.
Trauner quickly announced he would run again. Facing him in the general election is Cynthia Lummis, who won the August 19 GOP primary with 46% to 38% for Mark Gordon.
