RNC Outpaces DNC in October Fundraising

By Caitlin Huey-Burns - November 18, 2011

The Republican National Committee slightly outraised its Democratic counterpart in October, providing the RNC with more cash on hand.

The RNC last month brought in $8.5 million while the Democratic National Committee raised $7.9 million. Republicans reported nearly $13.5 million in cash compared to the Democrats' $11 million.

Meanwhile, Republicans tasked with getting party members elected to the House had their highest October fundraising total in a non-election year since the Federal Election Committee began recording these numbers electronically in 1995.

The National Republican Congressional Committee raised $4.6 million last month and has $13.8 million in cash. The committee repaid $1 million in debt last month and is currently $500,000 in the red. At this same time heading into the 2010 midterms, the group had raised $3.4 million, had $4.2 million in cash and reported $2 million in debt. Democrats, who outraised the NRCC last month, came in slightly behind the NRCC in October with $4.2 million. Still, they have raised $52.1 million to the NRCC's $48.7 million for the year.
