CHICAGO - RealClearPolitics (RCP) announced today that award-winning journalist Alexis Simendinger is joining the company as its White House correspondent.
"Alexis is a proven talent and a dedicated professional who knows this beat well," said RealClearPolitics Executive Editor Tom Bevan. "She fits perfectly with our vision of providing readers with compelling original reporting on President Obama's White House and his 2012 re-election campaign."
Ms. Simendinger has more than two decades worth of experience as a journalist covering politics in Washington D.C., including ten years covering the White House for National Journal. In 2008 she was awarded the Aldo Beckman Memorial Journalism Prize for "sustained excellence in White House coverage."
Most recently Ms. Simendinger was an investigative reporter and interviewer for the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission, contributing to the 600-page report to Congress detailing the 2008 economic meltdown and its aftermath.
"We feel fortunate to have someone of Alexis' skill and experience join our growing team of journalists," said RealClearPolitics Washington Editor Carl M. Cannon. "She'll be a huge asset as we continue to ramp up our original reporting as we head into next year's presidential race."
