Disgusted Headmaster II: Obama has been accused of feeling smugly superior to the conventional pols around him, especially those in Congress. He has now responded with this jobs-bill pitch:

We're going to give members of Congress another chance to step up to the plate and do the right thing," Mr. Obama said as he began a three-day bus tour through North Carolina and Virginia. "Maybe they just couldn't understand the whole thing all at once, so we're going to break it up into bite-sized pieces so they can take a thoughtful approach to this legislation.” [E.A.]
