And if anyone needs further evidence about the mood of American voters, look no farther than the defeat of Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski in that state’s Republican primary.

A just completed recount gave the nomination to Tea Party movement favorite Joe Miller, ending the career of yet another incumbent and a creature of the political establishment. She was originally named to the seat in 2002 by her father upon his election as governor - it doesn’t get much more insider than that. And her mentor was the late GOP Sen. Ted Stevens, the king of pork.
