Democratic Exodus Roils 2010 Landscape

Facing 40 percent job approval and terrible reelection numbers, Sen. Dodd will concede to political reality today.  He was widely viewed as the most vulnerable statewide Democratic incumbent in the country and by removing himself from the equation, Dodd is providing a good opportunity for Democrats to hang on to that Senate seat in Connecticut.  Attorney General Richard Blumenthal is the top choice among Democrats to replace Dodd.

After moving his family to Iowa during his ill-fated presidential run and becoming embroiled in the "Friends of Angelo" Countrywide home mortgage controversy, Chris Dodd's political problems seem to be specific to Chris Dodd and less about the overall tough environment Democrats are facing this year.
